I’ve been trading forex for about 8 months now and I’m still figuring out which broker actually works best for my style. Right now I’m split between AvaTrade and eToro, but one thing I keep hearing from other traders is that withdrawal times can be unpredictable. I’ve read some posts where people mention they waited over a week, and others say it was instant. I’m trying to understand if this is a real difference between the two brokers or if it depends on the withdrawal method I choose. The thing that bothers me most is not knowing what to expect before I commit my capital. I want to make sure I’m choosing a broker where the money actually comes back when I need it, especially since I’m managing this account pretty tightly. Has anyone here actually tested both platforms and noticed a real difference in how fast the cash gets back to your account? What withdrawal method did you use, and how long did it actually take?
eToro usually faster. Bank transfer slower than card.
AvaTrade took me two weeks once.
Withdrawal speed depends more on your bank than the broker. AvaTrade and eToro both process requests within 2-3 business days. The delay happens after that, in your bank’s system. Card withdrawals tend to be faster than bank transfers because they skip an intermediary step. If you’re experiencing delays beyond 5 business days, contact their support team. Usually it’s a verification issue or your bank flagging the transaction.
Both brokers are regulated, so they have to process withdrawals properly. The real difference you’ll notice is platform stability and spreads during actual trading. Withdrawal speed shouldn’t be your main decision factor. Focus on execution quality and total trading costs after rebates kick in.
I’ve used both and honestly the withdrawal process is pretty similar. Both took about 3-4 days for me when I used a bank transfer.
What I noticed more was the difference in how their customer support responds if there’s an issue. eToro seemed quicker to respond when I had a question about my account.
If withdrawal speed is important to you, try using a credit card withdrawal first. Those tend to be faster than bank transfers.
The withdrawal delays I’ve seen are usually on the customer’s end, not the broker’s. Make sure your account is fully verified before you try to withdraw. Both brokers ask for ID and proof of address.
Once that’s done, withdrawals are pretty straightforward. I’d say the bigger question is which broker gives you better trading conditions for the pairs you actually trade.
eToro withdrawals were fine for me. AvaTrade took longer but might depend on the method.
Check if your account is verified first. That’s usually the bottleneck.
One thing people don’t mention enough is that your bank can hold the money even after the broker processes it. I’ve had transfers sit in my bank’s queue for days.
That said, I did notice eToro seems to batch process withdrawals, which might make it slightly faster or slower depending on when you request it. AvaTrade is more consistent.
If you’re serious about comparing these brokers, test with a small withdrawal first. Fifty or a hundred bucks. That way you know exactly how long it takes with your specific bank.
