Been testing different volume indicators lately but getting mixed results.
Some days OBV works great, other days it lags too much. VWAP seems more reliable but wondering if I’m missing something better.
What’s been working for you guys in fast-moving markets?
Simple volume bars work fine for most setups.
MFI has saved my ass on so many trades. Combining price and volume gives you way better reads than just volume alone.
I used to run OBV but it kept faking me out during choppy markets. MFI cuts through that noise since it actually looks at where price closes in the range.
I run 14 periods and hunt for divergences at overbought/oversold levels. EUR/USD and GBP/USD during London session are money with this setup.
I still keep basic volume bars up though. Sometimes the simple stuff catches what all the fancy indicators miss.
VROC beats most volume indicators for day trading. It catches volume momentum shifts before price moves, giving you earlier signals than OBV or regular volume bars. Pair it with price action at key levels - when volume jumps 200% above average as price hits support or resistance, that’s your cue. Don’t rely on just one indicator though. VWAP works great for mean reversion plays, but VROC’s your best bet for early breakout signals. Test both across different timeframes.
Volume oscillator works great for me. Way better at spotting divergences than just looking at volume bars.
Start with default settings, then tweak from there.
