What's the most "boring" but consistent currency pair you've ever traded?

I’ve been trading for about 8 months now and I’m starting to realize that maybe chasing the exciting, volatile pairs isn’t the best strategy for me. I keep getting burned by sudden moves and news events that I didn’t see coming.

I’m curious about your experiences with the more “boring” pairs - you know, the ones that don’t make huge moves but are predictable and consistent. Which currency pairs have you found to be reliable workhorses in your portfolio?

I’m looking for pairs that:

  • Move in predictable patterns
  • Don’t have crazy spreads
  • Aren’t affected by every little news event
  • Actually respect technical levels most of the time

I know boring might not sound exciting, but honestly at this point I’d rather have steady, consistent gains than the roller coaster I’ve been on. What pairs have been your bread and butter for consistent profits?

EURCHF’s been my main pair for steady trades the last couple years.

Moves slow but trends stick around for weeks or months once they start. SNB keeps it pretty stable, with no crazy spikes from random news.

Spreads aren’t bad and it actually respects technical analysis way better than most pairs.

AUDNZD’s solid for steady, boring trades. The economies sync up so you won’t get crazy volatility. Takes patience but when trends start, they run forever.

EURUSD at NY close has been my go-to for years. Sure, it gets boring around 4-5 PM EST when London wraps up, but that’s exactly why it works. Moves just enough to hit targets without going crazy. Spreads stay tight and it actually respects technical levels during those quiet hours. Most traders skip it because volume drops - that’s what makes it perfect. Less noise, cleaner moves.

USDCAD works great for consistent boring profits.

GBPJPY during London overlap was my boring go-to pair. Weird since GBP’s usually wild, but that timing made it crazy predictable.

Clean trends for hours with minimal noise. Decent spreads during active hours and it respected support/resistance perfectly.

Don’t trade it much since Brexit started throwing random spikes everywhere, but before that political chaos it was rock solid. Made steadier profits than any major.

Timing’s everything though - gets choppy and messy outside London hours.
