I’m deciding between XTB and IC Markets and both have solid reviews, but I’m trying to understand the actual differences when it comes to reliability. Both are regulated, both offer MT4 and MT5, both have cashback options through GlobeGain. On paper they look similar, but there must be real differences in how they actually perform.
I want to know: which one has faster and more consistent withdrawals? How do their platforms actually hold up during volatile trading? Which one has better execution consistency? And is there a noticeable difference when you factor in rebates and total trading costs?
If you’ve actually used both, what were the real-world differences? What made you stick with one over the other?
Both are solid EU-regulated brokers, but they target slightly different traders.
XTB is more retail-focused with better educational content and customer support. Execution is reliable, withdrawals typically 2-5 days. Spreads are competitive (1.0-1.5 pips on majors). Good choice for most traders.
IC Markets is ECN-focused with tighter spreads if you use their Pro accounts (0.1-0.5 pips) but you pay commission. Better for high-volume traders optimizing costs. Withdrawal times are similar.
For reliability specifically: both execute well during volatility, both have good fund protection. The real difference is trading volume and strategy. Low-volume retail traders get better overall value from XTB. High-volume scalpers get better cost structure at IC Markets even with commissions factored in.
Used both for about a year each. XTB customer support is noticeably better when you need help quickly. IC Markets support is okay but slower.
For execution, IC Markets edges out XTB during high volatility because of ECN infrastructure. But the difference is maybe 0.1-0.2 pips, which only matters if you’re scalping.
Withdrawals are nearly identical timing, around 3 business days for both.
Decided to stay with XTB because the support and platform feel more polished. The execution difference doesn’t offset the friction with IC Markets support.
For a straightforward comparison: XTB is easier to use and has better support. IC Markets is more cost-optimized if you trade high volumes.
If you’re not scalping hundreds of times per month, XTB is the simpler choice. Better platform experience overall.
XTB better for retail IC Markets better for scalpers.
Both are reliable honestly just depends on your trading style.
One practical thing: IC Markets has more account types (standard, raw spread, etc). More choice, but also more decisions to make as a beginner. XTB keeps it simple.
Cost-wise: XTB standard account with GlobeGain rebate averages 1.0-1.2 pips net cost per trade. IC Markets Pro ECN with commission averages 0.4-0.6 pips net cost. Only matters if you’re trading 10+ times daily. For casual traders, XTB is cheaper overall.
Both process GlobeGain rebates, so that part is equivalent. Real difference is execution speed and platform feel.
