What exactly is spot trading and why do traders use it?

Been seeing spot trading mentioned everywhere but still confused about the actual mechanics.

Why would someone choose spot over futures or margin trading? What are the real advantages here that I’m missing?

I prefer spot trading because it is straightforward. You can buy or sell currency pairs at the current market price without the hassle of expiration dates or rollover fees.

Unlike futures, you have more flexibility with the amount you trade, which is better for retail traders.

Overall, spot trading offers quick execution and clear pricing, making it a solid choice.

Spot means you own it right now. No contracts no expiration dates

Perfect for beginners - way simpler than other trading methods. I mostly do spot trading with crypto.

You actually know what you’re buying and selling.

Spot trading involves buying or selling currency pairs at the current market price. You actually own the currency rather than holding a contract for future delivery, like with futures. It’s straightforward. There are no expiration dates or rollover fees, so you can hold your positions for as long as you want. Most retail forex brokers offer spot trading by default. Just remember, if you’re not using leverage, you need the full position value upfront. While futures may offer better pricing for larger volumes, spot trading is generally sufficient for most retail traders.
