Been trading for 2 years and always calculated everything manually or just winged it with rough estimates.
Finally started using a proper profit calculator last month and wow, the difference in my risk management is night and day. Actually knowing exact position sizes before entering trades changed everything.
Most traders skip the calculator thinking they can eyeball position sizes. Huge mistake. The math gets messy with different currency pairs and changing account balances. Set your risk percentage once and let the calculator handle it. I punch in entry, stop, and risk amount before I even study the charts. Takes emotion out of sizing decisions. Consistency beats speed.
Same here. Those rough estimates destroyed me when I started.
Game changer was setting alerts for when my position size calculator shows numbers that are too small. If I can only risk 0.1 lots on what seems like an amazing setup, it means my stop’s too wide or the trade isn’t actually that good.
Compounding works way better too. Stick to proper position sizing and your account grows much smoother. No more getting wrecked by oversized positions.
