US traders - which MT4 brokers allow gold trading? Need recommendations

Hey everyone, I want to start trading gold pairs and need some help finding the right broker. I’m located in the US and want to use MetaTrader 4 since I’m already familiar with it.

Since CFD trading isn’t allowed for US retail customers, I’m looking for brokers that offer legitimate spot gold trading. I’ve heard about some platforms but want to get real feedback from people who actually use them.

What I’m looking for:

  • Must support US clients legally
  • Has to work with MT4 platform
  • Preferably spot trading rather than futures
  • Quick account opening process

Questions for the community:

  • Has anyone tried brokers like tastyfx or OANDA for gold trading?
  • What about FOREX.com - do they have decent spreads?
  • Any issues with deposits or withdrawals?

I don’t mind if leverage is limited or if I need to trade fully funded positions. I just want a straightforward, regulated option that won’t give me headaches later. Would really appreciate hearing about your actual experiences rather than just broker marketing claims.

OANDA’s been solid for gold trading. Spreads stay reasonable and execution hasn’t given me any major headaches.

MT4 connects fine and withdrawals hit my bank account within two business days.

Just remember that gold moves fast during economic news. You want a broker with quick execution over saving a pip on spreads.

Traded gold with FOREX.com, switched to OANDA two years ago. Night and day difference in fills.

FOREX.com constantly requoted me during volatile sessions. Platform would freeze right when I needed to exit. Lost some good profits because of it.

OANDA handles crazy gold swings way better. Zero requotes and their MT4 feed doesn’t crash when markets go nuts.

Here’s what people don’t mention - margin requirements matter. OANDA lets you trade tiny positions, which saved my ass learning gold. FOREX.com forced bigger minimum trades that burned through my account.

Both work for US traders, but OANDA actually performs when gold gets wild.

FOREX.com works fine but their platform lags during London open when gold gets volatile.

Try FOREX.com for gold - good spreads and service.

FOREX.com is decent for spot gold, but spreads widen during news events. OANDA usually has tighter spreads and executes gold orders faster. Both are well-regulated for US clients and MT4 works well on either. OANDA processes bank transfer deposits the same day, while FOREX.com takes longer. Avoid tastyfx for gold trading as their fills are slow and you may experience more slippage. Stick with bigger brokers that have a solid setup for gold trading.
