Been focusing on higher timeframe structure lately but I’m still missing solid setups.
I can spot support and resistance okay, but my entries seem off. I wonder if I’m misinterpreting the overall trend context.

HTF structure gives you the foundation, but you make money on the lower timeframes waiting for confirmation. Mark your higher timeframe levels, then drop to 15m or 5m to watch how price reacts at those zones. You want rejection candles, volume spikes, or momentum shifts right at your levels. Most people nail the levels but jump in too early. Let price test your level first and show you where it’s actually heading.
Your timing might get better if you wait for the actual break and retest instead of jumping on the first touch.
I mark my HTF zones and watch for fake breaks that snap back into range quickly. These usually give much cleaner entries than trying to catch the exact bounce.
Also, check if you’re trading with or against the overall HTF momentum.
Structure’s only half the battle execution is what really counts.
Check momentum divergence when price hits your levels. Usually shows if the structure’s gonna hold.
That trend context thing you mentioned is probably killing your entries. I had the same problem until I started mapping market structure flow.
Here’s what worked: find the last swing high and low on higher timeframes first. Only take longs above that swing high or shorts below the swing low. Basic stuff, but it cuts out tons of bad trades.
Watch how price moves between your support and resistance zones too. Choppy and overlapping? You’re in a range. Clean impulses with shallow pullbacks? That’s your trend.
Once I got this down, my win rate went from 40% to 65% on structure plays.
