I noticed that IG Markets has formed some kind of partnership with Trading Technologies. This seems like it could be really beneficial for people trading in the UK market. From what I can see, they’re not charging any fees for deposits or withdrawals, which is pretty rare these days. Most brokers hit you with charges every time you move money in or out of your account. Has anyone here actually tried using their platform for listed options and futures? I’m curious about whether the execution is decent and if there are any hidden costs I should know about before opening an account with them.
Good for basic stuff but commission rates are brutal.
Been with IG for 3 years. The TikTok partnership was a game changer - their platform was pretty outdated before that.
No deposit fees, but their margin rates are steep. Learned that the hard way when I started holding positions overnight.
Stick to FTSE and major indices for options. Smaller names have terrible bid-ask spreads. Execution’s okay but nothing special - got burned on some fills during Brexit chaos.
At least their customer service answers the phone, which is more than most UK brokers. Don’t expect cashback programs though.
Platform’s solid but the mobile app sucks compared to desktop. Better for swing trading - don’t bother with scalping.
Solid execution for futures just watch the spreads
The Trading Technologies integration definitely makes this better than basic IG. Watch out for futures commissions adding up if you’re trading smaller sizes. Execution is solid during regular hours, but expect some slippage with big news. They don’t charge deposit fees, which is nice, but spreads tend to be wider than dedicated futures brokers. Starting small and testing it out first could be a good approach.
IG Markets keeps things tight but spreads blow out when markets get crazy. The TT partnership is legit - way better order types and charts than their basic setup. Yeah, no deposit fees, but watch those overnight rates. They’re making money somewhere, usually through fatter spreads or expensive rollovers. Options pricing looks decent but liquidity’s hit or miss depending on what you’re trading. Fire up their platform during London open when things get wild - that’s when you’ll see if their execution actually works.
