Thoughts on xauusd technical analysis for beginners

Been trading gold for about 6 months now and still struggling with the technical side.
Support and resistance levels seem obvious on higher timeframes but when I zoom into M15 everything looks messy. Started with simple moving averages but gold moves so fast during news events.
What actually works for you guys on XAUUSD?

Gold’s a news junkie - technical analysis only works when the fundamentals aren’t fighting you. I trade XAUUSD on daily and 4H timeframes since anything shorter gets messy. Those round numbers matter big time: 1900, 1950, 2000. Gold respects psychological levels way more than currency pairs. Set your stops wider than regular forex - this thing can whip 20-30 bucks against you before heading where you want. When major news hits, just close out or stay away. Gold gaps 50+ dollars instantly and your technical levels go out the window.

Stop looking at M15 charts entirely for gold.

Round numbers and trend lines work best for me on gold. News events will wreck any setup though so watch the calendar.

Start with daily and H4 charts for gold.

M15 is a nightmare - XAUUSD has crazy noise compared to regular pairs. Focus on the big picture instead.

I stick to basic trend lines and wait for clean breaks above or below key levels. Moving averages help sometimes, but forget them during volatile sessions like London open or US data dumps.
