Thinking of opening a swissquote account: what are the real pros and cons?

I’m considering opening with Swissquote and I’d like real user pros and cons rather than brochure talk. How are your actual spreads compared to what they list? Any platform hiccups on MT4 or MT5 or their web platform during heavy news? How smooth were deposits and withdrawals, and how long did funds take to land? Any surprise fees or quirks with account tiers? Also, did onboarding clearly show which entity you signed with and what protections apply?

If you’ve traded there, what made you stay or leave, and why?

Execution fine costs higher than many brokers

Withdrawals by wire landed in two business days

Test it with a small live account. Record average spread on your pairs during calm periods and major news. Log slippage on market and stop orders across different times of day. Place a few withdrawals by card and wire to see actual timelines and any fees. Check swap rates on instruments you hold overnight. Compare your all in cost per lot using spread plus commission minus any cashback. If you scalp, pay close attention to execution speed and fills. If you swing, swaps and weekend behavior matter more.

Expect strong stability and service but not the lowest pricing. That can be fine if your edge depends on reliability more than razor thin spreads. For short term trading, test fills around London open and the first minutes after big releases. For longer holds, check swaps and financing. Ask support to confirm your legal entity and send the fee schedule for your account type. Keep a basic log so you can compare results with another broker side by side.

I had steady execution and no drama on MT5.

Costs were a bit higher than my other account, but support actually answered fast when I needed it.

I would test first to see if the pricing still fits your style.

Spreads were okay for majors. Not great for minors. Withdrawals by bank took two days for me.

I used them for news avoidance swing trades.

Spreads were fine outside events and platform stayed stable when I did enter around sessions. Wire withdrawals hit my bank in two business days on average. Card withdrawals were slower for me.

I moved day trading elsewhere for cheaper costs, but kept a small account for diversification.

Scalping was workable but not ideal on busy London open.

I saw small positive slippage sometimes and mild negative slippage during spikes. Nothing crazy. If your edge needs ultra tight costs, compare against a cheaper ECN. If you value backup with steady service, it is solid.
