I’m considering IC Markets but I want to make sure their trading platform actually works smoothly before I deposit real money. I’ve been burned by platform lag before, so this matters to me.
I know they offer both MT4 and MT5. I’m not sure which one to test or what I should specifically be checking for. Like, what counts as “stable”? Is it just that the charts load fast, or are there other things?
I’m also wondering about their customer support. If something does go wrong with the platform, how quickly can you actually reach someone who can help?
Has anyone tested IC Markets’ MT4 or MT5 recently? What was your experience like during normal market hours and during volatile news events? And how would you compare their support to other brokers you’ve used?
I want to go in with realistic expectations, not just hope for the best.
MT5 is newer. MT4 is simpler. Test both with demo.
Test both MT4 and MT5 during market hours when volume is high. Look for three things:
-
Chart responsiveness. Can you zoom, scroll, and apply indicators without lag?
-
Order execution. Place and close orders multiple times. Do they fill instantly or is there delay?
-
Stability under stress. Trade during news events or volatile market moves. Does the platform disconnect or freeze?
IC Markets’ MT5 is solid for most traders. MT4 is more stable if your system is older. Support is email and chat. Response time is usually 2-4 hours during business hours, which is acceptable but not instant.
Don’t judge on one or two interactions. Test the platform itself thoroughly on the demo account. That tells you more than support quality in most cases.
I tested IC Markets’ MT5 for about two weeks before depositing. The platform felt responsive most of the time.
I did notice some lag during the Asian session open, but nothing that made trading difficult. The charts updated smoothly and orders filled consistently.
I’ve contacted support once with a question about account features. Response came within a couple of hours. Nothing fancy, but they answered clearly.
MT5 works fine. Charts are smooth. Support responds fairly fast.
I use IC Markets’ MT5 for most of my trading. Platform is stable for me.
I’ve traded through several high-volatility days and during news announcements. Orders execute without issues. No disconnect problems or platform freezing.
One thing to check: IC Markets uses their own server. So test during your specific trading hours. Platform might behave differently during Asian session vs. London open depending on server load.
Support is decent. I’ve submitted tickets and usually get response within 4 hours. Not the fastest, but reliable. More importantly, they actually solve the problem instead of sending scripted replies.
Support responds okay. Platform rarely lags for me.
