Separating facts from rumors about IG's platform stability—what's your actual experience been?

I keep seeing posts online about IG’s platform stability, and half of them sound like complaints from people who I’m not sure actually use the platform. Some say it crashes during news events, others say it’s rock solid. One person claimed their orders got rejected for no reason. Another defended them completely.

I want to know what real traders have actually experienced. Not rumors, not “I heard from someone,” but actual situations where you were trading on IG’s platform and something happened—good or bad.

This is the kind of thing where GlobeGain’s transparent broker comparisons have actually helped me get clearer. When you look at documented data instead of relying on reviews, things make more sense. So I’m hoping to get that same level of honesty here.

Has your experience been stable? Have you hit problems during market spikes? What platform are you using—MT4 or MT5? And how does IG actually compare to other brokers you’ve tried?

MT5 is stable for me. No real issues.

Slight delays during major news but nothing serious.

IG’s platform is solid for most conditions. MT5 version is stable—server latency is normal, order execution is clean. What people confuse is platform stability with market volatility. When spreads blow out during news, it’s not a platform problem. That’s normal. Their system doesn’t crash during volatility like it might have years ago. I’ve tested them against IC Markets and Pepperstone for comparison. IG holds its own.

I’ve been using IG’s MT5 for about a year and a half. Platform itself hasn’t let me down. A few times during Brexit or Fed announcements, connection got slow, but nothing crashed.

I think a lot of complaints come from traders blaming the platform for market issues. When spreads widen during volatility, it’s not the platform failing—it’s normal market conditions. IG’s actual platform performs well when you separate that from normal trading chaos.

Platform works fine for me. Had maybe one or two brief glitches over time.

Used IG’s platform consistently for three years. MT4 and then switched to MT5 about two years back.

Main thing—their platform is stable. Doesn’t crash during volatile periods. You might see slower connection speeds during extreme volatility, but that’s different from the platform failing. I’ve traded through the last few major events without real issues.

What gets misrepresented online is normal market behavior. During big news, spreads widen. Orders execute slower because of market conditions, not platform failure. Most complaints I’ve seen online are people confusing these things.

Real problem I found? Customer feedback loop. They’re slow to update their platform features compared to competitors. But for pure stability, no complaints.
