I’ve been hearing different things about IC Markets’ platform stability, especially during high-volume trading sessions. Some people say MT5 is rock solid, others mention disconnections and slippage.
I trade during London and New York overlap, which is when things get chaotic. I need a platform that doesn’t lag or disconnect when volatility spikes. Reading reviews hasn’t given me a clear answer because people seem to have different experiences based on their connection quality, account size, or trading style.
I’m trying to understand if the platform issues are actually broker-side problems or user-side problems. Is MT4 on IC Markets actually more stable than MT5? Do connection problems happen more during certain market hours? Has anyone actually tested the platform during high-impact news events or major volatility?
What real-world experience can you share about platform performance on IC Markets specifically?
MT5 more stable than MT4 generally speaking.
Connection issues usually your internet not broker.
Platform stability during high volatility depends on several factors. IC Markets uses good server infrastructure so broker-side disconnections are rare. What you probably experience is slippage, which is different from platform failure. Slippage happens when execution lags during fast market moves, and that’s normal on all brokers.
MT5 is more stable than MT4. Use a wired connection, not WiFi, for trading. Your internet matters more than the broker’s platform for consistent execution. Test with small positions first during high-volume hours. If you get consistent slippage beyond 2 to 3 pips on entry, the broker might have execution issues.
I use MT5 on IC Markets and it’s been solid for me. No disconnections during normal trading and even during the volatile sessions last month everything held up fine.
I did notice that when my internet connection was shaky, the platform felt unreliable. But when I switched to a wired connection, everything improved. So a lot of what people blame on the broker is actually their connection.
MT5 works better than MT4 for stability. No major issues reported.
Disconnections rare. Usually internet problem not platform.
Used both MT4 and MT5 on IC Markets for scalping. MT5 is noticeably more stable. Fewer reconnection hiccups and execution feels cleaner.
During the NFP events in the last few months, MT5 held up fine on IC Markets. Some brokers had visible lag around 8:30 AM but IC Markets stayed responsive. The key is having a solid connection.
I also learned that account type matters. My ECN account executes faster and cleaner than basic STP would. If you’re experiencing platform instability, check your connection first, then test different account types before blaming the broker.
