Mobile app reliability during high volatility - which brokers handle it best?

Last week’s NFP release completely froze my broker’s mobile app. Couldn’t close positions for 20 minutes. Has anyone else faced similar issues with their platform during high-impact news? Which brokers have the most stable mobile experience when the market goes crazy? Specifically looking at order execution speed and crash frequency.

MT5 apps crash less than custom ones.

Avoid brokers using proprietary mobile apps during volatility. MT4/MT5 mobile versions have better infrastructure. Tested 6 brokers during ECB meetings - only two had <1 second latency. Key metrics: app update frequency (monthly+ is good) and whether they disable pending orders during news (red flag).

Had the same problem with Broker X’s app. Switched to a broker using MT5 mobile.

Night and day difference. Executed 12 trades during CPI news without lag. Check if your broker offers VPS integration – helps reduce app dependency.

Web version works better than mobile when markets move fast.

Ran stress tests using demo accounts across 3 brokers. Results:

  • Broker A: 8/10 trades failed during volatility
  • Broker B: Slippage but no crashes
  • Broker C: Auto-switched to lite mode, executed all orders

Now using Broker C with GlobeGain’s rebates. Covers 20% of slippage costs on bad days.
