I've noticed some top traders only trade 2-3 specific currency pairs. Is specializing better than trying to trade everything?

Been watching some successful traders and they stick to just EUR/USD, GBP/USD, and maybe one more pair.

Starting to wonder if I should narrow my focus instead of spreading myself thin across everything.

Trading fewer pairs is easier and more focused.

Blew through multiple accounts trading 12 pairs - learned that lesson the hard way.

Now I stick to just EUR/USD and GBP/USD. Took 6 months to really understand how they move.

Risk management’s much simpler when you know your pairs inside out. GBP/USD goes crazy during London open, so I either skip it or trade smaller during those hours.

Broker shopping’s easier too. Some have terrible spreads on exotics but decent majors. Way simpler to compare when you’re only looking at 2-3 pairs.

Even my GlobeGain cashback is more predictable since I know exactly what volume I’ll hit each month.

Yeah, specializing definitely works better. You get familiar with how those pairs move instead of shooting in the dark with random ones.

I mostly trade EUR/USD and GBP/USD. Much easier to read their patterns.

Focus definitely works better. I stick to EUR/USD and USD/JPY now instead of jumping around everywhere.

Fewer pairs means you actually understand what moves them instead of guessing all the time.

Fewer pairs lead to better setup recognition. When you understand how EUR/USD reacts at key support or how GBP/USD moves after BOE news, your trading is based on knowledge, not guesswork. Choose pairs that fit your trading schedule. If you’re active only during NY hours, avoid AUD/JPY. Focus on major pairs with tight spreads that move while you are trading.

Most successful traders stick to just a few currency pairs rather than jumping around everywhere.

When you focus on specific pairs, you’ll start recognizing how they behave in different market situations. This makes your trading decisions way better.

Go with major pairs that have good liquidity and match when you’re actually trading.

Specializing is smart. I dropped from 8+ pairs to just EUR/USD and GBP/JPY three years back.

Huge difference. You catch subtle patterns you’d miss when bouncing around multiple pairs. EUR/USD moves completely different during London overlap versus New York - you only learn this stuff by watching one pair obsessively.

News tracking gets way simpler too. I only follow ECB, Fed, and BOJ now instead of every central bank release.

Win rate jumped 12% after switching. Takes time to learn each pair’s personality, but once you get it, trading becomes way more predictable.
