Been thinking about stripping everything off my charts lately. Just price action and maybe some key levels.
Wondering if anyone here actually makes consistent money trading completely naked charts or if indicators are just necessary for most retail traders.
Been trading naked for 3 years now. Started with tons of indicators like everyone else, but they just confused me with mixed signals.
Price action shows you everything. Support/resistance, candlestick patterns, volume - that’s it. I stick to daily and 4-hour charts.
Understanding market structure is what matters. Where are the highs and lows? How does price react at key levels? This beats any RSI or MACD hands down.
Took about 6 months to feel comfortable ditching the indicators. Your brain craves that extra confirmation early on. Once you drop them though, you actually see what the market’s doing.
I still draw basic trend lines and horizontal levels. Maybe not 100% naked but no oscillators or moving averages.
Price action works, but I added one simple moving average. It helps me stay with the trend.
Naked trading definitely works, but you need serious discipline and patience. Expect months of screen time before you can spot reliable patterns without doubting yourself constantly. Keep your process simple - find major support/resistance levels, watch how price reacts when it hits them, then wait for clear rejection or breakout signals. Most people blow up because they overtrade. Without indicators constantly flashing signals, you’ll get way fewer setups. Feels boring but it’s actually a good thing. Good naked traders might take 2-3 trades per week tops.
