IG's withdrawal process and platform stability: should you stay or switch?

I’m trying to figure out if IG is reliable enough for serious trading, and withdrawal speed keeps coming up as a concern in conversations I’m reading. I want to understand whether this is an actual problem or if it’s just people expecting instant transfers.

What I’m really trying to assess is whether IG’s reliability is solid when things matter—when you need your money back, when markets get volatile, when the platform gets busy. I’ve seen some traders say withdrawals are no problem, and others mention delays or weird holds.

Similarly, platform stability is huge for me. I don’t want to deal with connection drops during critical moments or slow execution when I need it.

I know every broker has some friction, but I’m trying to understand if IG’s issues are minor or if they’re the kind of thing that would push me to switch after a few months.

I’m considering comparing IG directly against one or two other brokers on these two factors specifically—withdrawal speed and platform stability—to make a better decision.

What’s your actual experience been? Did you stay with IG, or did withdrawal delays or platform problems push you away?

Withdrawals from IG: standard process takes 2-5 business days. That’s normal. Delays usually happen because traders didn’t complete verification properly or their bank flagged the transfer.

I’ve withdrawn from IG maybe 15 times over the last three years. Only one took longer than expected—my bank held it, not IG’s issue.

What matters: their verification process is thorough and can take a few days first time. Plan ahead, don’t expect instant access to money.

Platform stability: IG’s platform rarely crashes. But during major news, server load can cause slight lag. Nothing catastrophic. I’ve traded through GBP, Fed decisions, employment data—no real issues.

Comparison to Pepperstone and FxPro: same platform providers usually, so stability is similar. The real difference is execution quality and spread behavior during volatility, not platform uptime.

Stay with IG if their spreads and rebates work for your trading. Switch only if you see execution slippage patterns or if their support fails you on something critical.

I stayed with IG for two years then switched to IC Markets. Platform stability was fine with IG, no crashes or major issues.

Withdrawals were reliable. I withdrew three times, took 3-4 days each time, which is standard.

What actually made me switch wasn’t IG’s reliability—it was that IC Markets offered better rebates and tighter spreads on the pairs I trade most. IG wasn’t bad, just not the best value for my specific trading.

But platform-wise, IG is solid. If you’re worried about them being unreliable, that’s not really the issue. Your real question should be whether their spreads and support work for you, not whether they’ll be around or stable.

They’re regulated, established, no red flags on reliability. For someone starting out, IG is actually a safe choice.

I’ve been using IG for about a year and a half now and haven’t had problems with withdrawals or anything. They’ve been reliable for me.

I withdrew twice, both times took a few days which seemed normal. Platform works fine, no weird connection issues.

I think IG gets a decent reputation for being reliable because they are actually reliable. They’re not flashy or the cheapest, but they work.

For stability and withdrawals, I’d say it’s one of the safer choices. If you’re comparing them on just these two factors, I don’t think you’ll have issues with IG.

IG stable withdrawals normal. No real issues seen.

IG seems pretty reliable from what I see. Withdrawals work fine.
