IG support during withdrawals: what actually happens when the process gets slow?

I keep reading different stories about IG’s withdrawal support. Some people say it’s straightforward and quick, others mention waiting days for a response or getting conflicting information about withdrawal timelines.

I’m particularly interested in what happens when a withdrawal doesn’t clear in the timeframe IG advertises. Like, if they say withdrawals take 3-5 business days and yours is stuck on day 6, what actually happens when you contact support? Do they actually investigate and fix it, or do they just tell you to wait longer?

I’m also wondering if there’s a pattern with withdrawal support at IG specifically. Is this a consistent issue or just random bad luck for some people?

What’s been your actual experience when you’ve needed IG support to help with a withdrawal problem?

I had a withdrawal delay with IG about 6 months ago. Day 7, still nothing. Contacted live chat and they asked for verification documents even though I’d already submitted them. That was frustrating. After I re-sent everything, it took another 2 days. Total time was about 9 days. The support agent seemed to follow a script instead of actually checking what was happening on their end. Annoying but eventually solved.

IG holds money sometimes. Support response is slow on day 6-8.

Withdrawal delays at IG usually fall into two categories: system delays or verification delays. If your account passes their verification checks, withdrawals typically clear within 3 business days. If there’s any flag - unusual activity, new account, high volume - they trigger an additional review. That’s where the delays happen. When you contact support about this, they won’t tell you directly. They’ll say “your withdrawal is being processed” instead of “we’re doing an extra security check.” This frustrates traders because there’s no transparency.

My withdrawal took 5 days. Support said it was normal. I just waited and it came through.

If delayed past day 5 ask for reference number. Mention it specifically.

Here’s the key: IG’s support will not proactively investigate a withdrawal delay. You have to contact them on day 6 or later and specifically request a status check with your withdrawal reference number. Without that reference, they can’t help. And be aware that some delays are from the payment processor, not IG. Support sometimes blames the processor when it’s actually on their end, so ask them to escalate to the payment team if it’s truly delayed.

I’d recommend contacting them on day 5 if your withdrawal hasn’t shown up, before you panic. At least you get communication going. I’ve found they’re more responsive if you’re polite and specific about what you need. Angry messages tend to get slower responses.

Have your withdrawal reference ready when you contact support. Makes it faster.

Complete verification fully upfront. Withdrawal delays usually stem from verification gaps.
