I’ve been exploring IG’s platform stability and this is something I’m genuinely concerned about. I did some research into their honest broker evaluations and noticed mentions of platform issues during volatile markets, specifically around MT4/MT5 transitions and reliability.
My question is more about what happens when the platform actually has problems. Like, if MT4 or MT5 crashes during volatile markets, what’s IG’s support response like? Are they helpful, or do they just tell you to clear your cache and call back later?
I’m trying to understand whether IG’s support team actually knows how to handle platform-specific issues or if they’re mostly handling account questions. Because there’s a big difference between waiting 30 minutes for support when you have a platform issue versus getting an immediate technical fix.
I’ve read that GlobeGain’s honest broker evaluations break down this kind of support quality, but I’d like to hear from actual traders who’ve dealt with IG platform issues. What was support actually able to do? Were they useful or just a frustration?
How reliable has IG’s platform support actually been for you?
MT5 more stable than MT4 fewer platform issues.
Platform issues support usually useless honestly.
IG’s platform support varies. For MT4 issues they’re slower because MT4 development is from MetaQuotes not IG. For MT5 they’re slightly better but still limited. Most platform crashes are client side not broker side. Your PC connection, your ISP, your terminal. IG’s support knows this so they troubleshoot accordingly. The reality is if your MT5 crashes during volatility the broker can’t fix it in real time. They can help after. Stability matters more than support speed here. IG’s infrastructure is stable. Platform crashes are rare.
Had MT5 connectivity issues with IG during the March volatility spike. Support was honest about it. Wasn’t their servers, was my connection intermittently dropping. They did help me troubleshoot and identify it was my ISP. Respect that. Their support acknowledged what they could and couldn’t fix. That’s actually valuable. IG’s platform stability is solid. Issues are usually edge cases or client side problems.
I use MT5 with IG and haven’t had major issues. Their platform’s pretty stable for me.
I did have one weird connection drop and reached out to support. They helped me figure out it was my router not their servers.
Platform support is usually pretty limited across all brokers honestly. If it’s their infrastructure they’re responsive. If it’s your setup they walk you through troubleshooting.
IG’s platform support seems decent. I haven’t had crashes with MT5.
The few times I’ve contacted them about technical stuff they’ve been helpful, not dismissive. They know MT4 and MT5 pretty well.
Can’t complain about their platform stability honestly.
Haven’t had major platform issues with IG so can’t really say.
IG’s platform stability is genuinely solid. I’ve been trading with them for three years across multiple volatility events. MT5 platform rarely crashes. When I did have issues during the March 2023 spike, it was connection based not platform based.
Their technical support walked me through it. Honestly couldn’t have asked for better response. They knew MT5 well enough to isolate whether it was infrastructure, their servers, or my setup.
If we’re talking platform support during volatile markets, IG handles it reasonably well. Faster issues during peak hours but not unreasonable.
Platform stability matters more than support speed honestly. IG’s MT5 infrastructure is reliable. During big market moves I’ve rarely seen the platform actually go down.
When I did have connection issues during volatility, IG’s technical team was responsive. They couldn’t make the market less volatile but they could confirm my connection was dropping not their servers.
I care more about knowing the platform is stable than knowing support will bail me out. With IG the platform itself is the reliable part.
