I’m weighing which account type to open on either AXI or Pepperstone and I keep getting conflicting reports about platform stability during high volatility. Someone mentioned their MT5 kept disconnecting during the Fed announcement while another trader said their MT4 on Pepperstone stayed rock solid.
I want to understand if there’s a real difference in stability between MT4 and MT5 on each broker. Does one platform hold up better when the market gets chaotic? And does it matter which broker you choose or is platform stability more about your internet connection and computer setup?
I’m planning to trade through upcoming news events so I need a platform I can trust. Has anyone actually tested both MT4 and MT5 on both brokers during volatile moments? What should I be looking for to make sure I pick the more reliable option?
Platform stability depends on broker infrastructure more than the terminal itself. Test both platforms live for 20 trades each during the next scheduled news release. MT5 handles volatility better theoretically but AXI and Pepperstone run different server architectures. One usually outperforms the other during spikes.
MT5 more stable. Test on both brokers.
I’ve used both terminals on different brokers and honestly I didn’t notice a huge difference during volatility. What mattered more was the broker’s server capacity during news events.
I’d suggest opening demo accounts on both and running them through a volatile market day to see which feels more responsive to you.
MT5 newer but MT4 proven. Try both platforms.
I tested this directly last year. Opened MT5 on AXI and MT4 on Pepperstone and ran both through earnings season and Fed announcements.
MT5 on AXI reconnected faster after brief network hiccups. Platform felt smoother under load. MT4 on Pepperstone was solid too but I noticed occasional lag spikes.
That said my internet connection is pretty solid. Someone with weaker connectivity might see different results.
For news trading specifically I’d lean toward MT5. Better charting and faster order confirmation under pressure.
Don’t get caught up in MT4 versus MT5. The real question is server latency and order queue handling during spikes. Compare broker reviews specifically about feed stability during news. That’s your answer.
Both platforms work fine. Broker servers matter more.
