Been trading EUR/USD and GBP/JPY pairs for about 8 months now.
Some days I hit 2-3% gains, other days I’m flat or down. Starting to wonder what’s realistic to expect daily.
What percentage returns do you guys typically aim for?

Daily profit expectations can mess with your trading psychology if you set them too high.
I found that 1% per day sounds reasonable but adds up to unrealistic monthly numbers when you do the math. Markets don’t move on your schedule.
Better to think about risk per trade instead. I risk about 1-2% of my account per position and let the profits take care of themselves based on what the market gives me.
Monthly targets work better than daily ones. Daily performance swings too much to be useful. You might nail 3% one day then lose 2% the next. That’s normal market behavior, not a strategy problem.
I track monthly returns instead. Aiming for 8-12% per month keeps expectations realistic while leaving room for natural trading cycles. Some weeks you catch trends, others you sit tight.
Your 8 months of mixed results sounds typical. Focus on consistent position sizing and risk management rather than chasing daily percentage targets.
Expect around 0.5% daily with occasional bigger days.
