How much capital do you really need to start trading Forex seriously?

Been paper trading for months and feel ready to go live. Keep seeing conflicting info about minimum capital requirements.

Some say $1000 is enough, others insist you need at least $10k to survive the learning curve. What’s been your experience with account sizes when starting out?

You can start with $2000 if you stick to 1% risk per trade and don’t overtrade.

It’s not about how much money you start with - it’s about staying disciplined while you learn. I’ve watched people blow $500 and $50,000 accounts making identical mistakes.

Get consistent with small positions first. More money won’t fix bad habits.

Started with $1500 and it lasted about 6 months with proper risk management. Position sizing matters way more than your starting amount.

Blew my first $2500 in 3 months. Demo trading made me cocky - thought I had it all figured out.

Second account was $5000, but I used way smaller positions. It survived and grew slowly. Wasn’t about having more money - I just risked 1-2% per trade instead of going all in like an idiot.

$2000-3000 is enough if you can handle real money pressure. Don’t expect to quit your day job though. Took me almost 2 years to stay profitable.

Biggest mistake? Overleveraging because your account feels tiny. Don’t do it.
