How does XTB's platform stability actually hold up during major news events?

I trade around news releases and I’ve heard mixed things about XTB’s MT4 and MT5 platforms during high volatility. Some people say execution is solid, others mention the platform getting slow when spreads spike. I want to know what actually happens on the backend when the market moves fast.

I’m specifically curious about whether the platform itself crashes or slows down, or if it’s just the normal behavior of spreads widening during news. There’s a difference between a bad broker and a broker with realistic market conditions, and I’m trying to figure out which one XTB actually is. Has anyone here actually traded news events with XTB? What’s your honest experience with MT4 or MT5 when volatility hits?

Platform stability during news is a real test of broker quality. What you’re looking for is three things: no disconnects, orders executing at reasonable slippage, and the platform remaining responsive.

XTB uses solid server infrastructure. Most traders don’t report outages during news. What does happen is normal market behavior: spreads widen, execution takes slightly longer, and you might get slippage on market orders. That’s the market, not the broker failing.

MT5 generally handles volatility better than MT4 because it’s newer architecture. If you’re trading news, use MT5 on XTB and set realistic expectations on slippage. Usually 1-2 pips on major pairs during FOMC or ECB announcements is normal.

Tested this myself during the last few months of data releases. XTB’s MT5 held up fine. No crashes, no disconnects. Spreads widened as expected (2-3 pips on EUR/USD during Fed announcements), but that’s normal everywhere.

The platform stayed responsive, orders went through. Slippage was around 1-2 pips average, which is solid for a news event. Other brokers I’ve used spike to 3-4 pips regularly.

If platform stability during news is your concern, XTB is reliable. Just don’t expect tight spreads during volatility.

I use XTB for news trading sometimes. MT5 works better than MT4 for speed, which makes sense since it’s newer. During big announcements, the platform doesn’t slow down or crash.

What does happen is the normal market stuff: spreads widen, execution takes a moment longer. But you can still place and close trades without issues. No complaints really.

MT5 stability is good during news events.

One practical test: if you’re worried, trade a small position during the next major news event and watch how the platform behaves. You’ll know within minutes if it’s reliable or not. Real market testing beats any review.

Also, XTB’s rebate through GlobeGain actually helps if you’re trading news because slippage costs add up. Even a small rebate reduces the damage from that extra spread widening.

MT5 is the way to go if news events matter to your strategy. Older platforms struggle more during spikes.
