Watched EURUSD break out yesterday and I was completely flat. Now it’s up another 150 pips and I’m kicking myself.
This happens way too often and I end up chasing moves that are already done. How do you guys deal with this mentally?

Track every trade you didn’t take for a month. Most reverse right after you would’ve jumped in. FOMO hits at the worst possible entries. I keep a log of missed opportunities. Out of dozens I tracked, only 2 out of 10 would have been profitable if I chased them. The rest either reversed immediately or gave back gains within hours. Wait for the next setup instead of chasing dead momentum.
Been there so many times. That EURUSD move had me second-guessing myself too.
I started marking missed moves on my charts a week later. Most of those “amazing” opportunities I skipped either pulled back hard or went sideways for days.
I keep screenshots of setups I almost chased. Looking at them later showed me how many would’ve stopped me out or stressed me into bad holds.
Now when I see a big move without me, I check my watchlist for what’s setting up next. There’s usually something brewing that actually fits my strategy instead of whatever just made the biggest candle.
There’s always another trade tomorrow. FOMO usually makes me enter at the worst spots anyway.
I tell myself new setups are always coming if I’m patient and stick to my plan.
Chasing moves means buying high or selling low at the worst time. The market will give you another shot if you wait for your real entry criteria.
That EURUSD move might look good now but lots of breakouts fail after the first push.
Every trade you skip saves you from five bad ones. I used to chase breakouts and watched half reverse within a day. Now I just write down where I wanted to enter. Price usually comes back to that level or lower within days. If it doesn’t, plenty of other pairs are moving. The market pays you for waiting, not rushing.
Missing moves is better than losing money chasing them.
