I’ve been logging broker behavior around big releases to keep it fair. For FP Markets users, can you share numbers from recent news trades?
Please include: account type, entity, server, symbol, order type, lot size, your ping or VPS, time of release. What was the spread a minute before, at the spike, and one minute after? How much slippage did you see on stops or market orders? Any freezes or requotes on MT4 or MT5?
Also, withdrawal timing: method used, request time, processed time, money received, and any fees.
Did rebates make the final cost acceptable compared to normal hours?
Can you post your last news trade metrics and a recent withdrawal timeline?
NFP spread hit 5 pips then normalized fast
Before news, record your baseline spread one minute out. During the release, capture tick data and mark the widest spread. Use market orders only if size is small. Buy stop limit or sell stop limit reduces slippage on spikes. Expect some misses. Keep a VPS near the server to cut latency. After the trade, compare requested versus filled price to get slippage in pips. For withdrawals, note request time, approval time, and funds received. If majors widen beyond 3 pips for more than 10 seconds often, I sit out.
Last CPI on EURUSD, raw account.
Spread went from 0.3 to about 3.5 for a few seconds. I got 0.9 pip slippage on a market order.
Skrill withdrawal the next day, no fee on their side.
MT5 did not freeze for me, but the first three seconds were ugly. I wait 15 seconds now. Bank withdrawal took two days as usual.
CPI last month on EURUSD, Raw.
Pre release spread 0.2. Peak spread 3.2 for about 8 seconds. Two buy stops slipped 1.0 and 1.3 pips. One sell limit got no fill.
Rebates trimmed the cost, but I still avoid the first spike.
Withdrawal via bank: requested Monday 10:00, approved 16:00, funds Wednesday morning. Card payout was quicker for me last time.
