For new traders, what's the best currency pair to start with? I hear EUR/USD is the most predictable, is that true?

As a new trader with my first demo account, I feel overwhelmed by the many currency pairs available. I’ve heard from colleagues that EUR/USD is a good choice for beginners due to its predictability and tighter spreads. Is this really the case? I’ve monitored it for a few days but I’m unsure if it’s genuinely more predictable than others.

What qualities should I look for in a currency pair as a beginner? Are factors like trading volume, volatility, and spreads important to consider?

Additionally, I’m interested in pairs like GBP/USD and USD/JPY, which seem common in tutorials. Are these too volatile for someone just starting out?

Any insights on which currency pair might be best to focus on while I learn would be greatly appreciated. I prefer mastering one pair before attempting to trade multiple.

EUR/USD is ideal for beginners. It has high volume during the London and New York sessions, which leads to better fills and fewer random price spikes. GBP/USD can be quicker but behaves similarly. USD/JPY is unique during Asian hours. Stick with EUR/USD and master its movements between 8am-12pm EST for clear trends. After two months of consistent profits on EUR/USD, consider adding another major pair.

Start with EURUSD then add GBPUSD once you’re comfortable.

EURUSD moves slower and has tight spreads. Good for learning basic chart patterns first.
