Been using FOK orders but they keep getting rejected in volatile markets. Maybe I should switch to IOC instead.
Anyone else find FOK too restrictive for scalping? Feels like I’m missing too many entries when price moves fast.

IOC’s more flexible, but think about your position sizing first. If partial fills screw up your risk math, go with FOK even though you’ll get fewer fills. But if you’re cool with smaller positions and can add more later, IOC’s usually the way to go. I keep both ready and pick based on what the market’s doing and how exact my lot size needs to be.
FOK destroyed my scalping for months until I figured this out. You’re spot on about rejections during volatile sessions.
IOC crushes it in fast markets. Partial fills beat no fills every time. I run IOC on most EUR/USD scalps during London open.
I only stick with FOK when I need exact position sizing for risk management. If my strategy needs exactly 0.5 lots and anything less screws up my math.
Switch to IOC for a week and track your fills. Mine jumped from 60% with FOK to 85% with IOC during high volatility.
FOK screws you in fast markets. It needs perfect conditions that rarely occur during volatility spikes. IOC is much more flexible. Getting 80% of your position beats getting nothing. You can add to partial fills if the setup is still valid. I usually stick with FOK for news trades where it’s full size or nothing. For regular scalping, IOC manages slippage better and keeps you in the game instead of watching setups vanish.
FOK’s too restrictive for fast trades. Switched to IOC and my fill rates got way better.
Market orders work great when speed is key.
