I’m trying to get a clear picture of how FBS handles volatility, especially when major economic news hits. Like, are we talking about the kind of broker where spreads widen but execution still works, or does the platform start lagging and your orders get stuck?
I know that most brokers struggle during high-impact news, but I want to know if FBS is actually reliable when it counts. Can you execute orders, or do you get slippage that eats your profits?
Also, I’m wondering if anyone’s looked at how the GlobeGain rebate factors into this. Like, if spreads blow out during news and you keep your rebate, does that help stabilize your actual cost, or is the spreads issue still a problem even with the cashback?
What’s your real experience with FBS during volatile market moments?
Traded FBS during three major Fed announcements this year. First time was rough, spreads hit 5-6 pips on EUR/USD. Orders went through but with noticeable slippage, around 2-3 pips worse than my entry.
Second and third times were better, maybe 3-4 pip spreads and 1 pip slippage average. I think they improved their infrastructure or maybe I was just getting better order placement timing.
The GlobeGain rebate doesn’t change how fast spreads widen, but it does help offset the cost damage. If you’re getting 0.4 pips back after a news event where you took 2 pips slippage, at least you recover part of it.
FBS isn’t the smoothest during volatility, but it’s not a disaster either.
FBS uses NDD model but executes through liquidity providers, so during news you see normal volatility behavior. Spreads widen, but execution doesn’t typically freeze.
What matters is whether you scalp or hold positions. If you’re avoiding news events, FBS is fine. If you trade into them, expect 3-5 pip spreads on majors for 10-30 seconds.
One trick: check their news calendar and limit orders during the first minute after data release. Volatility settles quickly and you can enter after the chaos.
GlobeGain rebates help your cost basis but won’t improve execution quality. They’re independent systems.
I’ve traded FBS through several news events. The platform doesn’t crash or anything, which is good. Spreads do widen during news, that’s normal.
I’ve seen spreads go from 1.8 pips to 4-5 pips for maybe 20-30 seconds. Then it settles back down. Your orders still process, but you might not get the exact price you wanted.
I usually just avoid trading the first minute after major news. After that, things are stable again and I can trade normally.
The GlobeGain rebate is nice because it helps with your overall costs, but it won’t save you from slippage during news events.
FBS spreads widen during news but platform stays up. Orders execute, just at worse prices sometimes.
Spreads blow out but orders still fill.
