ROC beats RSI and MACD for scalping hands down. It catches momentum shifts fast without the annoying lag that kills your entries. I use 10 to 14 periods. When it crosses zero, momentum’s switching direction - above zero means up, below means down. Here’s the key: pair it with volume. Strong ROC moves with heavy volume are solid, but ignore weak volume spikes. Skip trades when ROC shows momentum but volume’s dead.
Williams %R beats both for scalping entries.
ATR’s way more useful for momentum than most people think. Everyone just uses it for stops, but I check it before every scalp entry.
When ATR jumps, volatility’s picking up and momentum actually follows through. When it’s flat, even killer signals just die out.
