I’m getting concerned about something I keep reading - people mention XM’s platform becoming slow or unreliable during major news events. That’s the exact time I need my trades to go through cleanly, not the time I’m waiting for the platform to catch up.
I use MT4 mostly and I’ve heard both sides. Some traders say XM’s execution is fine even during chaos, others talk about requotes or delays during major economic releases. I haven’t found clear answers about whether this is a technical issue on their end or just typical forex broker behavior during volatility spikes.
Has anyone actually tested this? What’s your real experience been with XM during major news events - NFP announcements, central bank decisions, that kind of thing? Did your trades execute at the price you expected or did you get slipped around? I want to know what’s actually realistic before I commit to trading with them.
Traded with XM during the last few FOMC announcements. Their spreads widened like every other broker - that’s normal. What mattered was execution consistency.
I got requoted once on a large position during the actual announcement, but smaller trades went through at market price. That’s typical STP behavior, not unique to XM.
What I noticed: their MT4 platform stayed responsive. No freezing or lag like I experienced years ago with another broker. The real factor was my internet connection and how many orders I was trying to place simultaneously.
If you’re scalping during news, you’ll get requotes sometimes with any broker. If you’re taking normal sized positions, XM performs fine during volatility. Test it on their demo during the next major release to see for yourself.
I’ve been with XM for about 2 years now and I’ve traded through several major news events. Their platform holds up fine on my end, though I’m not a scalper so maybe that makes a difference.
The spreads do widen during news like any STP broker, but I haven’t noticed actual delays or platform crashes. My experience has been smooth.
I think a lot of the complaints come from people expecting to scalp the news with tight spreads. That’s unrealistic with any broker during high volatility. If you’re taking normal trades, XM works.
Platform stays up fine during news. Spreads get wider which is normal.
