I’ve been checking out some pricey day trading courses and can’t help but question their value.
A lot of the content seems like basic knowledge accessible for free. Has anyone taken a course and noticed noticeable improvements in their trading?

Courses can help, but only if you’ve already traded and know exactly what you need to work on.
Most beginners throw money at courses expecting some magic formula. You’ll actually learn when you start trading with real money and figure out your own psychology and risk tolerance.
Skip the courses and use that money for trading capital instead.
YouTube has tons of info. Many courses just repeat basics. Learning from your trades is often better.
Courses won’t fix your biggest problem - discipline. Many traders nail setups perfectly in demo accounts, then panic and break every rule with real money. Those expensive courses just repeat the same moving average crossovers and support levels available for free. They don’t teach you how to cut losses fast or size positions effectively. Avoid the course and invest that money in your trading account instead. Begin with small trades. Your losses will teach you more than any instructor ever could.
Most courses won’t make you profitable. You’ll learn more losing your own money and figuring out what went wrong. I’ve watched traders drop thousands on courses, then blow their accounts in weeks. Courses teach entry signals but skip risk management and how to handle pressure. Skip the course - put that money in your trading account instead. Start small, track every trade, and study your losses. That beats any guru’s slideshow.
Courses teach you the setups but don’t prepare you for executing when the pressure’s on.
Dropped $2,000 on a course from some big-name trader in 2019. Content was okay but nothing you can’t find elsewhere.
The real value? Private Discord that came with it. Being around other serious traders kept me disciplined. We’d share setups and tear apart each other’s bad trades.
Honestly, I could’ve learned everything from free YouTube videos and articles. But that community forced me to actually stick with journaling and backtesting instead of just talking about it.
If you’re thinking about buying one, make sure there’s ongoing support or an active community. The course material alone isn’t worth the crazy markup.
Free content works, but courses make you stick to a plan instead of bouncing around randomly.
