Customer support when you actually need it: avatrade vs etoro

I’ve been trading for a couple of years now and I’ve realized something - when things go wrong, broker support can be the difference between fixing a problem and losing money.

I’m looking at both AvaTrade and eToro right now, and everyone talks about spreads and rebates, but I want to know what customer support is actually like when you’re in a bind. Like, if your account gets frozen during a trade, or you have a withdrawal issue, or something goes wrong with your platform - how fast do they actually respond?

I’ve heard eToro has a bigger community so maybe more peer help, but AvaTrade has been around longer. Has anyone actually used their live chat or email support and had a real problem resolved? What was the experience like?

I’m trying to pick between them and this feels like something I should understand before I lock in my choice.

eToro responds within hours. AvaTrade takes longer.

Chat support matters way more than email honestly.

I’ve worked with both. eToro’s support is faster but sometimes less helpful because they’re handling so many accounts. AvaTrade is slower to respond but the agents know their platform better. For critical issues, both usually resolve things within 24 hours. What matters more is knowing their help desk hours - eToro covers more time zones. If you’re trading during Asian hours, that’s important.

One thing people don’t mention: test their support before you deposit real money. Use the live chat with a basic question. If they’re slow or unhelpful then, they’ll be worse when you have a real problem. I did this with both and it changed my decision.

I’ve had to contact eToro support twice for account issues and they got back to me the same day both times. Not perfect, but reliable.

I haven’t had a serious problem with AvaTrade yet, but I’ve heard mixed things from other traders about their response times.

The thing that helped me was opening a demo account with each broker and asking support a question through their chat. You get a feel for how they actually respond without real pressure.

eToro’s support is pretty quick based on my experience. Chat usually answers within an hour.

Never needed to contact AvaTrade support, so can’t really say.

One thing I learned - check their support during the hours you actually trade. If you trade during UK hours and AvaTrade’s best support staff are on US time, that’s a problem. I switched partly because of this.
