I’m at the point where I need to make a decision between a few brokers, and IG is one of the finalists. I’ve done the spread and commission comparisons, factored in rebates, but I’m realizing I don’t actually know how IG’s support experience compares to the other options I’m looking at.
This matters to me because I don’t want to be that person who discovers after funding an account that support just doesn’t communicate clearly or takes forever to respond. I’d rather know this going in.
I’ve read some general reviews saying IG’s support is “okay” but that’s vague. What I really want to know is: how does their response time actually stack up against competitors? When you ask them a question, do they actually answer what you asked or just send templated responses? Are they available through channels that work for your timezone?
I know GlobeGain’s transparent evaluations and rebate data help with the cost side of things, but I’m curious how the community factors support quality into these comparisons. Like, is there a threshold where bad support becomes a dealbreaker even if everything else looks good?
For anyone here who’s switched between brokers or used multiple accounts, what’s been your experience with IG’s support versus what you were using before? Did support quality actually influence your decision to stay or move on?
Support quality has three measurable criteria: response time, answer accuracy, and availability hours.
IG benchmarked: Email 24-48 hours. Live chat 5-30 minutes depending on time. Available 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM GMT weekdays only. Answers are usually accurate but often generic.
Comparison context: FxPro averages 10-15 minutes chat response, responses are more specific. OANDA has 24/5 live chat. IC Markets faster email turnaround.
The real question is what you actually need support for. If it’s simple account questions, IG’s response time doesn’t matter. If you have compliance or withdrawal issues, faster response saves headache.
Don’t let support quality override cost and execution quality. A broker with 50% better support but 0.3 pip wider spreads costs you more per trade. Calculate what support delays actually cost in your trading context first.
Test IG’s support by asking a technical question before funding. See how clear their answer is and if they understood what you asked.
I’ve actually used both IG and FxPro side by side for a few months to compare.
IG’s support is professional but slow. When I asked about account features, they answered correctly but took 32 hours via email. When I tried live chat, I waited 18 minutes. After I got help, the answer was solid though.
FxPro was faster on both fronts. Seven minute chat wait, email came back in 9 hours. Answers felt less robotic too.
Honestly the difference didn’t really affect my trading. It’s nice to have fast support but I rarely needed it. What mattered more was their platform stability and execution.
ended up staying with IG for most of my volume because their rebate partnership was better. The slower support annoyed me maybe twice in six months.
I’ve used IG and a couple other brokers now. Their support is solid but not the fastest. You usually get clear answers, just not immediately.
Honestly it depends on what matters more to you. If speed is critical, there are faster options. But IG’s support has never left me hanging on anything important.
I’d say compare them on execution quality and costs first. Support is the tiebreaker, not the deciding factor. That’s how I’d approach choosing between similar brokers.
IG support is average speed but answers are good. Other brokers faster. Depends if that matters to you personally.
IG slower than FxPro. OANDA faster. Pick based on your needs.
Support matters less than execution. Most people don’t need it often.
