Comparing IG's customer support quality to another major broker: which one actually handles issues better?

I’ve been trading for a while now and I’m starting to think my broker choice matters more than my strategy when something goes wrong. I’m currently with IG but I’m wondering if I’m missing something better.

There are so many brokers out there that claim good support, but when I actually look at what traders are saying, the reality seems pretty mixed. I want to compare IG head to head with another broker on things that actually matter - like response times, whether they actually solve your problem or just give you a runaround, and how they handle edge cases.

I’m not looking for perfect support. I just want to know which broker actually backs you up when you need them versus which one just has a nice website and generic responses.

Has anyone here switched from IG to another broker because of support issues, or stayed with IG because another option was worse? What made the difference for you?

Switched from IG to Interactive Brokers two years ago. The support difference is real but not always in the direction people expect.

IG’s support is friendlier and faster on basic stuff. But Interactive Brokers has actual phone support with technical people who understand the nuances of their platform. That matters when your issue is platform specific, not account specific.

IG’s live chat gets you answers quickly, but those answers are often ‘we’ll look into it’ followed by nothing. Interactive Brokers takes longer initially but they actually escalate properly.

For a retail trader, IG is probably sufficient. If you’re managing large positions or need technical troubleshooting, Interactive Brokers wins. Cost matters too - factor in spreads and rebates before comparing support quality alone.

I’ve used both IG and XTB. From what I’ve experienced, XTB’s support feels more engaged.

With IG, I felt like I was talking to a script. They’d give me the same templated response regardless of what I asked. With XTB, they actually seemed to understand my specific situation and offered workarounds instead of just closing the ticket.

That said, IG’s chat is faster. If you’re in a hurry and just need a quick answer, IG wins. But if you have a real problem that needs solving, XTB seems more equipped to handle it.

Costs are similar between them after rebates, so the support difference became the deciding factor for me.

I’ve traded with IG and also tested out Pepperstone. Both have decent support but they’re different.

IG responds faster but sometimes feels like they’re rushing. Pepperstone takes a bit longer but the responses feel more detailed and actually addresses what you’re asking.

Both use live chat during business hours and email for everything else. Neither has phone support, which is a limitation if you’re trying to resolve something urgent outside their hours.

For me, IG’s speed works better because most of my issues are simple. But if you have complex questions about your account or platform settings, Pepperstone’s slower but more thorough approach might suit you better.

IG’s support is faster than most brokers I’ve tried.

IG fast but generic. XTB slower but helps more.
