I’ve been trying to compare IG’s customer support against a few other brokers I’m considering—mainly because I want to make sure I’m picking based on actual experience, not marketing claims.
The challenge is that every broker claims their support is ‘responsive’ and ‘reliable,’ but that’s meaningless without context. What matters is real-world responsiveness and what actually happens when you need help.
I’m wondering if anyone here has used IG and also used another broker (XM, FxPro, Exness, AXI—doesn’t matter which) and can give me an honest comparison. I’m not looking for which one is ‘best,’ but rather what the actual differences are in how they handle support.
Specific things I’d like to know: response time during normal market hours vs. during volatility, whether support actually knows about trading when you ask technical questions, and what happens when there’s disagreement about something.
Have you compared IG to another broker and noticed a real difference? What was the difference and did it change which broker you preferred?
IG slower than XM but more thorough. Pick based on your patience level.
FxPro faster. IG more formal and structured. Different philosophy.
I’ve actively traded with IG and XM simultaneously for testing purposes. IG averages 4-6 hour response times with more formal processes. XM responds faster (1-3 hours) but their answers are sometimes less detailed. During high volatility, IG maintains consistency while XM gets backlogged. IG’s advantage is their complaints process is transparent. XM is faster but less predictable. For technical platform issues, IG’s support is more knowledgeable. XM tends to troubleshoot generically. The choice depends on your priority: speed or depth. If you’re scalping, XM’s faster response helps. If you’re swing trading, IG’s thoroughness matters less but their consistency is useful.
I used Exness first, then switched to IG. Exness had faster support but honestly their answers felt like copy-paste sometimes. With IG, support takes longer to respond but when they do, they actually solve the problem.
The biggest difference I noticed was during a compliance question. Exness gave me a generic answer about regulations. IG walked me through their specific policy and even sent me documentation. That made me feel more confident about funding IG.
IG takes longer than AXI but their support actually knows what they’re doing. Worth the wait honestly.
I’ve benchmarked this myself across IG, FxPro, and XM. Here’s the honest breakdown: IG is slowest (4-8 hours) but most consistent and knowledgeable. FxPro is fastest (30 minutes to 2 hours) but only for platform issues; other queries take longer. XM is in the middle (2-4 hours) but quality varies depending on the support agent.
What matters for me is that IG never ghosted me, FxPro is flakey sometimes, and XM is predictable but basic. During the last major spike volatility, IG’s support queue was stressed but they maintained quality. These other brokers got overwhelmed and started sending generic template answers.
For new traders, I’d lean toward either IG or FxPro depending on your trading style. If you scalp or need fast answers, FxPro. If you need reliability and you don’t mind waiting, IG.
