Choosing the Best Broker: XTB, Trading 212, or Interactive Brokers?

Hi everyone! I’m based in Europe, specifically in the Czech Republic, and I’m weighing my options among three brokers that I can use here.

XTB is quite popular in my area, but I’m a bit worried about their annual fee of 0.22% for accounts with over 250,000 euros. That fee feels a bit high as the account size grows.

On the other hand, Trading 212 offers attractive currency conversion fees, yet the inability to move my shares to another broker is concerning. What if I want to make a switch later on?

I’ve also heard that Interactive Brokers offer low fees overall.

What do you all think? Which broker would you recommend or is there another option I should consider? Would love to hear from fellow investors in Czechia or Europe about what they’ve experienced!

Trading 212 locks you in completely - kills any flexibility later. That’s a dealbreaker for me.

XTB’s decent for forex, but that annual fee hurts once you’ve got real money in there. The math turns against you fast.

IBKR’s got the lowest costs and you actually own your positions. Platform’s clunky at first but the savings pile up, especially if you trade a lot.

IBKR saves money long term. Platform works fine after week two.

Interactive Brokers is the best choice for serious investors. Their fees decrease with higher account balances, while XTB’s fees increase quickly as your balance grows. Trading 212’s setup makes it hard to move your shares elsewhere, which is a big risk if you plan to grow your portfolio. With IBKR, you gain real ownership of shares, good forex rates, and access to various markets. Their platform may take some time to learn, but the cost savings make it worthwhile. Start with small amounts to get comfortable before committing larger funds.

Been using XTB and IBKR for years. XTB’s solid for smaller accounts, but that 0.22% fee destroys you with serious money. Hit that point faster than I thought and made the switch.

IBKR’s platform feels clunky compared to XTB’s clean setup. Takes time to adjust. But my trading costs dropped 60% after switching - huge difference.

XTB wins on Czech customer support though. IBKR’s support is slow and half the time you get someone who can barely speak English.

Avoid Trading 212. Can’t transfer shares out - that’s a dealbreaker. Learned this the hard way with another broker years back. Always keep your exit options.

Under 50k euros? XTB’s fine. Above that? IBKR’s the clear winner despite the learning curve.

IBKR gets my vote. Their forex spreads are tight and the platform works fine once you get used to it.
