Been looking at mobile apps for oil trading lately since I’m always on the move.
Wondering if the execution speed is actually decent or if I should stick with desktop for anything serious.

Mobile apps have improved but there can still be lag during volatile periods when oil prices change quickly.
For smaller trades, apps perform well. However, for larger trades, I recommend using a desktop setup with multiple screens.
While the convenience of apps is great, execution quality is crucial when making quick trades.
Apps are good for quick exits. I prefer desktop for entries since connection issues can be a real problem.
Test your app with oil during the first few minutes after inventory data releases. That’s when you’ll see if it can handle real volatility. Most apps work fine when crude is moving normally. But during API or EIA numbers drops, many apps lag or give you bad fills. Keep positions small on mobile and set stops before placing trades. Network issues between wifi and cellular have ruined more trades than timing ever did.
Used MetaTrader mobile for oil trades when I was traveling last month. The fills were actually pretty solid during normal hours.
The real issue is when news hits and you need to react fast. Had WTI spike 3% on some pipeline news and my app froze for like 30 seconds. Cost me a decent profit.
Now I only use mobile for monitoring positions and maybe closing trades. Opening new positions always happens on desktop where I can see proper charts and have backup internet.
Apps work fine but spreads usually wider than desktop.
