Anyone tried IG trading platform?

Hey everyone! I’m looking into different trading platforms and came across IG broker. The interface looks pretty decent from what I can see on their website. I’m curious if anyone here has actual experience using their services. How reliable are they for day trading? Are their fees reasonable compared to other brokers? I want to make sure I pick a good platform before I start putting real money in. Any feedback would be really helpful since I’m still pretty new to this whole trading thing. Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences!

Platform’s smooth and the charts work well for analysis.

But the costs kill you - spreads are way too wide and just drain your profits. I bailed once I saw how much I was losing to fees.

It’s fine when you’re starting out and need something reliable to learn on, but you’ll want to switch once you get serious about trading.

IG’s execution is fast, but those wide spreads can eat into your profits quickly.

IG works but the spreads are wide. You can find cheaper options elsewhere.

Decent platform but the spreads are expensive and will eat your profits.

Used IG for 6 months when I started trading. Platform’s rock solid - never had connection problems during market hours.

Fees are steep compared to other brokers. EUR/USD spreads ran 0.8-1.2 pips back then. You’ll find tighter spreads if you look around.

Overnight financing costs killed me though. They slam you hard if you hold past 5pm EST. Works for day trading but swing trades get expensive fast.

Mobile app’s solid for managing trades anywhere. Support was helpful the few times I reached out.

It’s legit but pricey. Comes down to what matters more - rock-solid reliability or saving on costs.

IG executes trades fast and fills orders quickly. This is helpful for beginners. Yes, the spreads are wide but as a beginner, focus on learning instead of worrying over an extra 0.3 pips on EUR/USD. Use IG to build skills and learn risk management. Once you make consistent profits, you can think about switching to a cheaper broker. It is worth paying higher fees while learning instead of risking big losses on an unfamiliar platform.

IG was my second broker after getting burned by some sketchy offshore platform. Used them for about 18 months.

Loved their analysis tools - the sentiment indicators and market positioning data showed me what other traders were doing. Really helpful when you’re starting out.

But those spreads killed me. I was doing 3-4 trades daily and spread costs ate 20-30% of my wins. Can’t make money like that.

Their weekend trading was cool though. You can trade some pairs Saturday mornings when everyone else is closed. Made decent money on gap fills.

They’re fine for learning, but track your costs per trade. Once you’re consistent, switching to tighter spreads will seriously boost your profits.
