which is the best oil trading platform to start with?

Been looking at oil trading lately but honestly overwhelmed by all the platform options out there.

Most seem to have different spreads and margin requirements. What platforms have you guys actually used for crude oil CFDs that didn’t mess you around?

MT4 brokers like FBS and Exness have worked well for my oil positions. Their execution speed stays consistent even when crude moves fast.

Check the margin requirements before you start though. Oil can move 5% in a day so make sure you have enough buffer in your account.

I’d suggest starting small while you get used to how volatile oil can be compared to forex pairs.

Try XTB or eToro both handle oil decent enough.

Started trading oil with FXTM about 3 years ago and never had major issues. Their WTI spreads hover around 3-4 pips during active hours which is decent.

XM is another solid choice - they offer both Brent and WTI with reasonable margin requirements. Just watch out for their weekend gaps, can be brutal if you hold positions over Friday close.

Avoid the smaller brokers for oil though. Had a bad experience with one that kept widening spreads during news events. Stick with the regulated ones that have been around for years.

Oil trading requires reliable platforms that won’t freeze during market swings. OANDA is good for oil CFDs with consistent execution. Their spreads are decent but they don’t widen excessively during news events like some others.

Consider starting with demo accounts on two or three platforms. Test them during key reports like NFP or inventory data. This will show you which platforms fill orders without requotes. For oil trading, reliable execution is more important than saving on the spread.

IC Markets and Pepperstone work fine for oil. IC has tighter spreads usually. This video covers the main oil brokers worth checking out.
