When a trader you're copying has a massive winning streak, do you get nervous that a big loss is just around the corner?

Been copy trading this guy for 3 months and he’s hit 15 wins in a row. Part of me wants to increase my allocation but another part is screaming that this streak can’t last forever.

Anyone else get this feeling when everything is going too well?

Winning streaks make me cautious too. I prefer to stay safe since a big loss can happen anytime.

You’re right to be suspicious. 15 wins in a row is a red flag. Either this trader has good risk management or they’re increasing position sizes to sustain the streak. Check their trading history and compare position sizes from the early wins to the recent ones. If they are increasing, it’s a warning sign. I’ve seen many traders lose everything after a hot streak due to overconfidence and overleverage. Stick with your current allocation and wait for some normal losses before considering an increase.

Same here. Last year I followed a trader who hit 22 wins straight, but I kept cutting my position size because something felt wrong.

Gut instinct was spot on. Trade 23 wiped 40% of the account when he tried forcing another winner.

Now I check drawdown history and risk management upfront. Proper position sizing and stops make streaks less terrifying. But if they’re martingaling or betting huge chunks per trade, that streak’s just setting up for disaster.

Stick with your current allocation. Don’t chase streaks.

Streaks always end. I never add during hot runs.

It’s wise to be careful when considering increasing your allocation during a winning streak.

The best copy traders remain consistent with their risk management regardless of their performance. Those who experience significant losses often become overconfident after wins and take on larger positions.

Check if this trader is maintaining their position sizes and following their strategy during this run. If they are disciplined, you can likely keep your current allocation without worry.
