What's the one asset you will never, ever trade again? And what's the story behind it?

I’ve been thinking about this lately after having my own terrible experience with a particular asset that I’ll never touch again. We all have that one market or instrument that burned us so badly that we swore it off completely. I’m curious to hear your stories. What’s that one thing you refuse to trade anymore? Was it a specific stock that wiped out your account? A cryptocurrency that seemed like a sure thing but crashed overnight? Maybe a forex pair that kept faking you out with false breakouts? Or perhaps some exotic derivative that you didn’t fully understand? I’d love to hear the full story behind why you’ll never go near it again. Sometimes these painful lessons teach us the most about risk management and knowing our limits. Plus, sharing these experiences might help other traders avoid similar mistakes. What’s your “never again” asset and what happened?

GBP/JPY destroyed me. Lost 30% of my account in one week back in 2019.

Thought I was being smart trading Brexit volatility. Had what looked like a perfect breakout setup with solid risk management.

Cable yen moves like a drunk elephant. You’re up 200 pips feeling like a genius, then it reverses 400 pips in two hours and gaps right through your stops.

Averaging down killed me. Every time it went against me, I’d add another position thinking it had to bounce. The volatility made me greedy and stupid.

Now I trade EUR/USD and USD/JPY. Boring? Sure. But boring keeps me profitable and I actually sleep at night. Some people can handle those wild swings - I can’t.

Got absolutely destroyed trading oil futures after that insane negative price crash in April 2020. I was long USO thinking crude was oversold at $20. Woke up to WTI at -$37 and my account wiped out. Had no clue about storage costs or delivery mechanics. Physical commodities have so many moving parts that us forex traders just don’t get. Learned my lesson - stick to what you know. Currency pairs don’t come with storage tanks or expiration hell.

Natural gas futures nearly killed my trading career in 2020.

I thought I could predict winter demand spikes. Wrong. I had no clue how insane this market’s volatility gets. Weather reports would shift and I’d watch thousands disappear in minutes.

Worst part? The margin calls. Even tiny positions became huge risks when trades went south. Storage reports and weather forecasts turned into pure gambling.

Stick to markets you can actually analyze.

SHIB back in 2021. Bought near the top thinking meme coins were easy money. Lost 80% before I finally sold.

Now I stick to forex pairs I actually understand.
