RoboForex account types during news events: do spreads blow out the same way across all of them?

I’ve been reading about RoboForex account types and notice they advertise different spreads for each one. But here’s what I’m wondering - when major news drops and volatility spikes, does that spread difference actually matter? Or do all account types see similar blowouts?

I’m asking because I’m trying to figure out which account type to use for my trading style. I do some swing positions but I also like to be around when major economic data releases happen. The idea of consistent spreads sounds good, but I want to know if that holds up when things get crazy.

Has anyone here actually tracked their spreads on different RoboForex account types during news events? I want to know if paying more for a “better” account type actually gives you tighter spreads when it counts, or if we’re all getting hit equally when the market moves.

This is actually really important. I tested this over about four months during major news days.

Standard account: spreads went from 1.5 pips to 8-12 pips on EUR/USD during major releases. Pro account: 1.0 pip normal, 6-8 pips during news. ECN: variable spreads, average 0.8 pips normal, 4-6 pips during news.

So yes, the better accounts hold up better, but all of them widen. The Pro account felt like the sweet spot for me - decent protection without paying ECN commissions. During news, I actually just stopped trading for 30 seconds after releases. Waiting beats fighting the spreads.

Spreads widen on all account types during news, but the premium accounts handle it better. Standard accounts can see 5-10x spread expansion. Pro accounts usually 3-5x. ECN accounts typically 2-4x but with commission on top.

What matters more: order execution and requote likelihood. During fast markets, Standard and Pro accounts get requoted more often, which can hurt you worse than a wider spread. ECN accounts have better execution but cost more in commission.

If you trade news intentionally, ECN is worth it. If you just happen to be holding positions when news hits, Pro account is reasonable middle ground.

During news I’ve noticed the spreads get wider on my Standard account, but honestly I don’t trade through major releases anyway. I just close out or wait it out.

When I tested the Pro account for a month, the spreads didn’t blow out as badly, but I wasn’t trading news specifically so I can’t say for sure. What I do know is that execution slippage matters as much as spreads during volatile times.

Better accounts widen less but all widen during news.
