I trade around news events and I need to know which platform actually stays stable when volatility spikes. I don’t want to be in the middle of a trade and suddenly have the platform lag or disconnect.
I’ve heard that both AXI and Pepperstone offer MT4 and MT5, but I haven’t found clear information about which one actually performs better during high volatility. There’s a lot of marketing talk but not much real feedback from traders who actually trade during news.
What I’m asking: when you’re trading during major economic releases or market-moving events, does the platform stay responsive? Do you get slippage, order delays, or disconnections? And does it matter whether you’re using MT4 or MT5? I want to know what actually happens in real conditions, not best-case scenarios.

Platform stability during news is about server infrastructure, not just the broker. Both AXI and Pepperstone use solid infrastructure. Pepperstone has a slight edge in execution speed during high volatility, probably because of their server placement and redundancy. MT5 is more stable than MT4 during spikes because it handles connection conflicts better. If you’re scalping news events, use MT5 on either platform. Neither will have major outages, but you might see brief slowdowns. Test both with a demo account during the next major news event to see which feels better for your location.
I’ve used both during news trading and honestly they’re pretty similar. MT5 definitely feels more responsive than MT4 on both platforms.
Pepperstone had slightly better execution for me during volatile spikes, but it could just be my internet or server location. AXI’s platform was stable too, no major complaints.
If platform stability is your main concern, both are fine. The difference is small.

I’ve been trading news on both platforms for years. They’re both solid, but I prefer Pepperstone for high volatility.
Their execution is noticeably cleaner during major releases. I get fewer rejected orders and less slippage. AXI is fine too, just slightly slower to execute orders when everyone hits the market at once.
Switch to MT5 if you haven’t already. The upgrade from MT4 is worth it just for the stability during volatile periods. Both brokers support it.
