I’m trying to decide between MT4 and MT5 on Exness, and I keep reading that MT5 is “newer and better,” but I want to know what that actually means for my trading. Does it mean faster execution? Better stability? More indicators?
I’ve heard that MT4 is more stable and has more third-party tools available. I’ve also heard MT5 is faster but sometimes has compatibility issues with certain scripts. I’m getting conflicting information, and I want to understand what would actually affect my trading performance.
I’m curious about platform stability specifically. If I’m in the middle of a trade during a news announcement, which platform is more likely to handle the traffic and volatility without freezing or disconnecting?
Also, does the platform choice actually change anything about spreads, commissions, or rebates? Or is it just a preference thing?
What have you actually experienced using MT4 vs MT5 on Exness, especially during volatile market moments?
The practical difference is minimal for most traders. Both platforms execute orders through the same Exness infrastructure, so spreads and rebates are identical.
MT4 strength: simpler interface, more Expert Advisors available, slightly lower CPU usage. MT5 strength: better charting tools, faster backtesting, more built-in features.
For stability during volatility, both platforms are equally dependent on Exness server performance. If Exness servers lag during news, it doesn’t matter which terminal you’re using. However, MT4 has fewer background processes, so it rarely crashes from system overload.
If you use trading robots, verify they’re MT4 compatible before you commit. Some popular EAs don’t work on MT5 yet. For manual trading, either works fine. I’d pick MT4 if your computer is older or if you rely on specific third-party indicators.
MT4 stable simpler MT5 faster prettier.
I use both on my Exness account, and honestly the difference is smaller than I thought it would be. I keep MT4 open for scalping and MT5 for analyzing the longer timeframes because I like the charting better.
Neither one has crashed on me during volatile periods. The execution speed feels the same. Spreads and rebates are exactly the same between the two.
If you’re just starting out, I’d say go with MT4. It’s simpler, runs lighter, and if you ever want to build a trading robot later, there are way more resources available.
Both work fine on Exness. MT4 is easier for beginners. MT5 has nicer charts. Spreads same either way.
I’ve been using MT4 on Exness for years, and I recently tried MT5 for a few weeks to see if I was missing anything.
Honestly, the execution feels identical. The real difference was workflow. MT4 feels more intuitive to me because I’m used to it. MT5 has some nice features like better news integration and more built-in technical analysis tools.
During the volatile periods I traded, both platforms held up fine. No crashes, no disconnects. The server was the same in both cases.
I switched back to MT4 mostly because I use a few EAs that don’t support MT5 yet. If those weren’t in the picture, either would be fine. The platform choice barely affects trading performance. The execution quality from Exness is what actually matters.
