How do you stay updated on all the different factors moving these markets?

Hey everyone, I’m still pretty new to forex and feeling a bit overwhelmed by how many different things seem to affect currency prices. Economic news, central bank decisions, political events, even random tweets from politicians - it feels like there’s always something happening that could move the markets.

I’m trying to figure out how experienced traders keep track of all this information without going crazy. Do you have specific news sources you check every morning? Are there particular economic indicators you always watch? How do you filter out the noise from the stuff that actually matters?

Right now I’m just randomly checking financial news sites and honestly it’s a mess. I feel like I’m either missing important stuff or getting buried in information that doesn’t really impact my trades. Any tips on building a solid routine for staying informed would be really helpful. Thanks!

Most traders overthink this. Pick two reliable sources and stick with them. I use ForexFactory calendar and Bloomberg for breaking news. That’s it. Know your trading timeframe. Scalping? You need real-time feeds. Swing trading? Daily updates work fine. Watch what actually moves your pairs. USD pairs care about Fed policy and US data. Commodity currencies follow oil and gold prices. Learn these relationships instead of trying to track everything. Set alerts for major events only - NFP, rate decisions, and inflation reports. Skip the rest unless you’re specifically trading the news.

I just check my broker’s economic calendar before bed and skip the low-impact stuff.

After years of trial and error, I’ve got a simple routine that works.

Every morning I check three things: DailyFX economic calendar, central bank speeches, and a quick Reuters forex scan. Takes 10 minutes max.

The biggest lesson? Only focus on high impact events. NFP, Fed meetings, inflation data - this stuff actually moves prices. Everything else is noise that’ll stress you out.

I’ve got push notifications set for major central bank announcements. Saved my ass multiple times when Powell or Lagarde made surprise comments.

I stopped following political drama unless it’s about monetary policy. Twitter noise and random politician rants rarely create lasting moves worth trading.

Once you’ve traded for a while, you’ll recognize which events matter for your pairs. EUR/USD reacts way differently than GBP/JPY to the same news.

Price action tells you everything the news already did.
